HOUSTON, TX (February 13, 2023) – Tracey Fox King & Walters recently obtained an award in a case representing Jonathan Requeno, a 19-year-old subcontractor who suffered catastrophic injuries during a devastating construction accident.
Sean Tracey and Lance Walters were the attorneys on the case, which involved a violation of OSHA regulations regarding fall protection during the construction phase of an apartment complex in Spring, Texas. Despite the industry standard for fall protection, Requeno was not provided with the necessary equipment. He ultimately fell from the first story, resulting in severe injuries.
A Harris County judge awarded Jonathan $23,500,000 in damages, recognizing the devastating impact of the accident on his life and the need for ongoing 24-hour care.
"We are proud to have been a part of this important case and to have achieved a positive outcome for our client," said Sean Tracey, a founding partner of the law firm. "We hope this award sends a clear message to all contractors and developers that they must prioritize the safety of their workers and that violations of OSHA regulations will not be tolerated."
"This award is a powerful reminder of the importance of workplace safety and the devastating consequences that can result from a failure to abide by OSHA regulations," said attorney Lance Walters, a partner at the law firm. "Our hearts go out to Jonathan, and we are honored to have played a role in securing the compensation he deserves."
